try debian. its kind of like the most "default" distro. ubuntu is a little noobish but there is nothing wrong with that if it works.

when i use linux which i dont often because i primarily use wireless and it is a pain to set up in linux but when i do i use ubuntu with simdock.

Meh I'm not fixed on one distro yet. Started with Ubuntu, got annoyed, trying out Mint and OpenSUSE. Might eventually break down to Slackware.
